About JPW Mechanical & Electrical

JPW Mechanical & Electrical is a specialist engineering company providing installation, servicing, maintenance, breakdown support and machinery relocation for industrial and commercial laundry machines across the UK.

We are looking for an experienced Laundry Specialist / Field Service Engineer with a strong electrical background to join our growing engineering team.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently at customer sites and dealing with a wide range of industrial and commercial laundry machines, electrical systems, mechanical equipment and associated services.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for attending customer sites to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, complete planned preventative maintenance and install industrial and commercial laundry machines.

The role will involve working on equipment such as:

  • Industrial and commercial washing machines
  • Washer extractors
  • Tumble dryers
  • Ironers and ironer feeders
  • Folders and finishing machines
  • Tunnel washers and tunnel finishers
  • Presses and associated equipment
  • Conveyors and automated laundry systems
  • Electrical control panels and automation systems
  • Associated steam, gas, electrical, water and pneumatic services
  • Electrics 3 phase, single phase & controls

Key Responsibilities

Repair & Maintenance

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and plumbing faults on industrial and commercial laundry machines.
  • Attend machine breakdowns and fault-finding call-outs.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
  • Fault-find using electrical schematics, test equipment and diagnostic procedures.
  • Identify the root cause of recurring machine faults and recommend corrective action.
  • Carry out electrical testing and repairs safely and professionally.
  • Replace and adjust mechanical components, belts, bearings, motors, sensors and other machine parts where required.

Installation & Commissioning

  • Install and commission new industrial and commercial laundry machines.
  • Assist with machinery relocations, positioning and recommissioning.
  • Connect and test electrical and control systems.
  • Set up automated laundry systems and associated machinery.
  • Work alongside manufacturers, subcontractors and customer engineering teams during installations.

Customer Service

  • Attend customer sites throughout the UK and represent JPW professionally.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and site management.
  • Provide technical advice and practical solutions to machine faults and engineering issues.
  • Work professionally within busy industrial and commercial laundry environments.
  • Identify additional repair, maintenance, upgrade and replacement requirements and report these back to JPW.

Reporting & Administration

  • Complete accurate digital service reports following each visit.
  • Record work carried out, faults identified, parts used and further works required.
  • Maintain and manage van stock.
  • Ensure tools, test equipment and PPE are maintained and available.
  • Complete job sheets, service records and other required documentation.
  • Identify potential sales, upgrade and replacement opportunities while working on customer machinery.
