Field Service Engineer Role Covering Ireland

A position for a Field Service Engineer role covering Ireland has become available, with a leading provider of vehicle technology, CCTV, and driver assistance solutions.

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established technology business that provides installation, maintenance, and support services for CCTV systems, driver aid solutions, and other vehicle-based technologies across the bus, coach, and rail sectors.

The Field Service Engineer job, covering Ireland, is home-based and will form part of a team of remotely based engineers, supporting customers through installation, servicing, preventative maintenance, and fault rectification activities.

Candidates can be based in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, with travel across the region required.

This role offers a varied mix of field-based technical work and customer interaction, ensuring the highest levels of service delivery across the customer base.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for the Field Service Engineer job will have experience in the following areas:

  • Installing, commissioning, servicing, and fault-finding on vehicle-based electrical or electronic systems.
  • Maintaining and repairing CCTV systems, DVRs, telematics, driver assistance systems, or similar technologies.
  • Working within the bus, coach, rail, automotive, transport, or vehicle technology sectors.
  • Diagnosing electrical and electronic faults and implementing effective solutions within agreed timescales.
  • Managing preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and responding to service calls.
  • Delivering high levels of customer service while working independently in field-based environments.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, garage engineers, service teams, and management.
  • Maintaining accurate records and providing quality reporting to management and support teams.
  • Managing personal stock levels, tools, and company equipment effectively.
  • Adhering to customer and company health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers where required.
  • Working flexibly, including occasional overnight stays and night-shift activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • Experience within the vehicle technology, CCTV, automotive, rail, transport, or electrical engineering sectors.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of CCTV systems, DVRs, and associated vehicle technologies.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Experience working in a field service or installation engineering environment.
  • IT competency and the ability to complete service documentation accurately.
  • A full driving licence.
  • An Electrical qualification such as NVQ, BTEC, Apprenticeship, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Relevant industry experience within vehicle electrical systems, CCTV, or related technologies.
