Bizerba (UK) Ltd is seeking a friendly, proactive Field Service Engineer to support Food Pro equipment across the East Midlands.
This role matters because it keeps retail food operations running smoothly: prompt fault diagnosis, reliable maintenance and clear customer communication minimise downtime and protect customer confidence.
Purpose of the role
Provide on-site technical support, maintenance and installations for weighing, labelling and food-processing equipment used in retail environments. Act as the local technical expert, delivering high-quality service to customers and contributing to continuous improvement of service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to service calls and perform first-time fixes where possible.
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, calibrations and preventive maintenance on Food Pro equipment.
- Install new equipment and commission systems according to specifications and safety standards.
- Keep accurate service records, complete job reports and update engineers' systems promptly.
- Advise customers on correct operation, routine care and minor troubleshooting.
- Work with colleagues to escalate complex faults and implement lasting solutions.
- Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a tidy, well-equipped vehicle stock.

Essential Skills And Experience
- Proven experience as a field service engineer or similar role supporting retail or food-industry equipment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills relevant to weighing, labelling or food-processing machines.
- Comfortable working independently across customer sites and managing your own diary.
- Good customer-facing communication: able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical staff.
- Valid full UK driving licence and ability to travel across the East Midlands.
- Competent with basic IT tools used for reporting, fault logging and remote diagnostics.

Desirable Skills And Experience
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs or networked device troubleshooting.
- Previous exposure to retail or supermarket site procedures and vendor management.
- Training in food-safety relevant to equipment servicing in retail food environments.
- Experience using handheld test equipment and calibration tools specific to weighing systems.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification in electrical, mechanical or electronic engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Any industry certificates (for example in electrical safety, refrigeration or PLCs) are advantageous but not mandatory where equivalent experience is demonstrated.
What we offer
- Working pattern: Full-time, Permanent. This is a remote role: you will be expected to travel to customer sites across the East Midlands from a home-based start point.
