Field Service Engineer
Are you an experienced engineer looking to work with some of the most advanced container handling equipment in the world?
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support our range of Ship to Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG), and Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG). Working across customer sites, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing high-value equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and delivering outstanding customer service. Responsibilities
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and inspection of Liebherr Ship to Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG), and Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG) at customer sites, ports, terminals, and, where required, Liebherr depots.
Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on STS, RTG, and RMG equipment.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical, PLC, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.
- Performing diesel engine servicing and repairs (desirable).
- Working safely at height and in challenging port environments.
- Assisting with the assembly, commissioning, repair, dismantling, and refurbishment of crane equipment.
- Effectively managing your workload to meet customer expectations, agreed deadlines, and company standards.
- Collaborating closely with Technical Support teams to resolve complex issues and develop technical knowledge.
- Accurately diagnosing equipment failures and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Ensuring warranty and return parts are processed correctly, including cleaning, packaging, labelling, and timely return.
- Reading, understanding, and maintaining relevant service documentation and technical information.
- Completing all work in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, company procedures, and quality standards.
- Reporting damaged or defective company equipment through the appropriate channels.
- Building strong working relationships with depot teams and supporting colleagues where required.
- Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance for yourself and others.
- Completing all required administration, service reports, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Developing professional and lasting relationships with customers through exceptional service delivery.
- Adopting a flexible and customer-focused approach to meet operational requirements.
- Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and that work areas are left clean, safe, and presentable.
- Contributing ideas and recommendations to improve efficiency, processes, and service delivery.
- Acting as a professional ambassador for Liebherr by maintaining excellent personal presentation and vehicle standards.
- Proactively seeking opportunities for continuous professional development and applying new skills in the field.
- Participating in an out-of-hours support rota, when required.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties commensurate with the position.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Proven industry experience in an electrical maintenance, service, or engineering role.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- PLC knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience with heavy industrial equipment, cranes, or plant machinery is desirable.
