Field Service Engineer

Hertfordshire (open to candidates from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire)

Permanent

Up to £40,000 pa

Full Time (Monday to Friday)

A well-established business is looking for a hands-on and reliable Field Service Engineer to join their Service and Aftersales team. This is a field-based role covering the South with UK wide travel as required. A company van, company mobile phone, and laptop will be provided as well as travel and overnight costs covered.

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for servicing, commissioning, and maintaining equipment at client sites.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will work independently on site while remaining part of a supportive service team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and remedial works on equipment.
  • Plan and prepare work using equipment specifications and system drawings.
  • Complete pre-commissioning checks and commission equipment on site.
  • Troubleshoot faults, complete repairs and replacements, and reinstate systems to full operation.
  • Prepare reports, condition surveys, and basic estimates for parts, materials, and labour.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with engineering equipment.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently as a Mobile Service Engineer, as well as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
  • Happy to travel and stay away overnight when required.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
