The Opportunity

Are you a skilled engineering professional looking for a dynamic role where your expertise directly impacts the heartbeat of a major operation?

Holcim, a leading global supplier of traditional and sustainable construction materials, is looking for a Mechanical Field Service Engineer to join our dedicated contracting team. This is an exciting, high-visibility opportunity to keep our heavy plant equipment operating at peak performance across our UK site batch operations.

Based in the Midlands and covering sites nationwide, you will be the go-to technical expert ensuring asset capability, minimising downtime, and driving engineering excellence in a vital part of our business.

This is a Permanent, full-time position operating on-site with regular travel across our UK operations, you will need a full UK driving licence for this position.

In this role, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Executing planned maintenance schedules and responding swiftly to plant breakdowns to return equipment to production efficiently with permanent technical solutions.
  • Safety Leadership: Adhering to the highest health, safety, and environmental standards, utilising a "stop and think" approach to all tasks, and ensuring all safety documentation is meticulously completed.
  • Technical Inspections: Conducting daily plant assessments, logging stoppages accurately, and collaborating closely with management and site teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contributing to safe working methods, maintaining immaculate housekeeping, and supporting the training of site operatives to elevate collective maintenance standards.

Who you are

You are a highly motivated, enthusiastic Mechanical Field Service Engineer who takes pride in solving complex mechanical challenges and ensuring operational excellence. You thrive in a collaborative environment but are equally confident working independently under pressure to meet crucial deadlines.

To be successful in this role, you possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Technical Expertise: You hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent technical qualification) in Mechanical Maintenance, with proven expertise in welding, cutting, and fabricating techniques.
  • Engineering Insights: You have a strong working knowledge of engineering drawings and the ability to plan, implement, and adapt maintenance schedules.
  • Safety-First Mindset: You possess a deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, putting the well-being of your team and site at the forefront of everything you do.
  • Flexibility & Commitment: You are agile, adaptable, and fully prepared to support a 24/7 operation, including response when critical site breakdowns occur.
