Field Mechanical Engineer
The Field Mechanical Engineer is mainly responsible for ensuring that all sitework and servicing requirements are completed to the works schedule to satisfy customer needs. You have overall responsibility for ensuring all sitework and servicing is conducted to the relevant quality standards, and health and safety requirements are adhered to.
As the Field Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for the safety and maintenance of all company property allocated to you, such as PPE, the company van and tools. You must ensure that each piece of equipment is kept in an optimal state, with any defects or health and safety concerns being reported to your line manager in a timely manner.
Prior to the commencement of your allocated sitework, it is expected that you submit RAMS to your line manager, who will have the responsibility to review and approve these with the customer. You will then be expected to travel to the site on the arranged date and complete the work required safely and efficiently. Following the completion of each job, it is expected that you submit an accurate, punctual, and professional site report to your line manager for review. This site report will allow other departments to understand the work completed and the observations and recommendations you have identified, allowing them to discuss the next steps with the customer.
As the Field Mechanical Engineer, you will be continually allocated jobs by management. It is imperative that you consistently monitor the work schedule and contact a member of management if you are unsure of any allocated work. As a Field Mechanical Engineer, you must be ready to demonstrate your skills to other employees through training, so you should be physically fit and can conduct sitework and servicing on-site.

The company will provide you with all the training required for the role of the Field Mechanical Engineer but if at any time you feel additional training is required, then please communicate this to your line manager, who will be able to assist with your request.
It is also the consideration of the Field Service Engineer to often search for ways to improve the sitework and servicing processes and make it more efficient. You should feedback your suggestions to your line manager.
Another important facet of the role is maintaining safety among employees and in the workplace. The Field Service Engineer must ensure that all safety protocols are always followed by all workers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensuring all sitework and servicing requirements are completed on time.
- Ensuring you are prepared and equipped to complete the planned works.
- Generating accurate RAMS and submitting on time
- Generating accurate site reports and submitting on time
- Supporting other field service engineers as required
- Communicating with your line manager if overtime needs approval.
- Maintaining quality standards
- Ensuring health and safety protocols are always followed.
- Maintenance of PPE
- Maintenance of company vans and tooling
- Assist with the training of other employees as required.
- Communicate with management if additional training is required.
- Look for opportunities for continuous improvements within the sitework and servicing processes.
- Recording and managing any near misses or accidents on site
Qualifications & Education

- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
- 2+ years of experience within an engineering environment - Desired
- Materials Handling industry exposure - Desired
- Familiarisation with ISO 9001
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office 365.
- Competent in the use of ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- IPAF - Desired
- RTITB - Desired
- CSCS - Desired
- UK Driving License
- DBS
- First Aid trained.

Within this role you must always act in the best interests of the company, whilst this role is primarily as field service engineer there may be occasions when the company requires you to attend a customer or supplier site to engage in any research and development projects, training of staff, investigate customer complaints relating to operational concerns or issues.
