Field Service Technician – Mining
Location: Southern Scotland (Field Based)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Field Service Technician to join a global engineering manufacturer supporting the mining industry.
Working as part of the UK Service team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and commissioning surface mining equipment across customer sites throughout the UK. This is a customer-facing role where you'll combine your technical expertise with first-class service to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
The role offers a varied workload, significant autonomy and the opportunity to work with industry-leading mining equipment. There will also be opportunities to develop your skills across additional product lines, including underground mining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to equipment breakdowns, carrying out diagnostics, fault finding and repairs on customer sites.
- Perform planned servicing, preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Commission new equipment and support installations.
- Improve machine reliability and maximise equipment availability.
- Plan and prepare the correct tools and parts required for each job.
- Provide exceptional technical support and customer service.
- Work closely with Service, Operations and Aftersales teams to deliver service requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
- Travel throughout the UK with occasional international travel when required.

About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Mining or quarry site industry experience
- Strong background in hydraulics, mechanics, electrical systems, engines, compressors and pneumatic systems
- Previous experience servicing, maintaining or repairing mining, heavy plant or mobile equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- The ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive approach with strong commercial awareness.
- A commitment to safe working practices.
- Experience working in, or willingness to work in, underground mining environments.
- Based in a commutable location of southern Scotland.
- UK working rights essential
