Role Description
The Field Service Technician role is a full-time hybrid position based in Gainsborough, with a mix of on-site work at customer locations and some tasks that can be carried out from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Installing, commissioning, and testing packaging machinery
- Performing scheduled maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Conducting machine inspections
- Completing service reports
- Providing technical support and training to customers on safe and efficient operation of equipment

The role also involves:
- Collaborating with engineering and production teams to feedback field issues
- Supporting upgrades and retrofits
- Ensuring minimal downtime for customers
Travel to customer sites within the UK and occasionally abroad will be required, along with adherence to all health, safety, and quality procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, with experience working on industrial machinery, packaging equipment, or similar systems.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manuals, with solid troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of PLCs, control systems, and servo-driven equipment, or the ability and willingness to learn these technologies.
- Comfortable using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and test equipment, and following maintenance schedules and service procedures.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction, training, and accurate completion of service documentation.
- Ability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities and travel demands.
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, apprenticeship, or diploma in engineering, electrical, or mechanical disciplines) is highly beneficial.
- Previous field service experience and exposure to food, beverage, or industrial packaging environments is an advantage.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
