About the Role
Our client, an established supplier of industrial packaging and processing equipment, is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support customers within the beverage sector. This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities, commissioning experience and the ability to work independently in demanding production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, inspect, service, troubleshoot and repair beverage packaging machinery at customer sites.
- Provide technical support on selected beverage processing equipment where required.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and equipment control faults accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct equipment condition audits and recommend preventative maintenance or performance improvements.
- Support the installation, relocation, refurbishment and upgrading of industrial machinery.
- Assist with equipment setup, alignment, testing and production ramp-up during commissioning projects.
- Work closely with senior technicians, project managers and customer technical teams during installations and service interventions.
- Identify and communicate technical risks, project delays and additional work requirements.
- Provide technical and operational training to customer operators, maintenance staff and production personnel.
- Promote the correct and safe operation of machinery and appropriate preventative maintenance practices.
- Act as the company’s professional on-site representative during customer visits.
- Conduct pre-job briefings and post-job feedback sessions with relevant customer personnel.
- Complete accurate service reports detailing work performed, equipment condition, spare parts requirements and recommended follow-up actions.
- Record working hours, travel, expenses and site activities in accordance with company procedures.
- Comply with all company and customer health, safety and operational requirements.

Requirements
- An N4 technical qualification or an equivalent recognised technical qualification.
- A qualified Millwright trade test or an equivalent electrical or mechanical trade qualification would be preferred.
- A minimum of three to five years’ experience within the beverage, packaging or industrial machinery sector.
- Proven experience working on beverage production or packaging lines would be highly advantageous.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled industrial machinery would be advantageous.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic systems and basic hydraulic systems.
- Strong communication, customer service, problem-solving and administrative skills.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel frequently, work after hours and attend breakdowns or project installations when required.

Benefits
Our client offers a salary of R65 000 to R75 000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience, together with medical aid and provident fund benefits.
