Our client, a global leader in bakery technology and automated production systems, is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join its UK operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer to work with advanced bakery equipment and complete integrated production lines, supporting customers across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally internationally.

The business designs, manufactures, and installs sophisticated standalone machinery and fully automated bakery production lines for customers worldwide. Job Role

Reporting to the Customer First Manager, the Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing high-quality engineering support to customers across the UK and Ireland, with occasional international travel. You will carry out servicing, preventative maintenance, repairs, fault finding, installations, and commissioning activities while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

Working autonomously and directly with customers, you will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime, maximizing production performance, and supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of their equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical and electrical servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance across a wide range of bakery manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation faults to minimize equipment downtime.
• Perform fault finding across automated control systems, electrical circuits, pneumatic systems, and associated equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics to identify faults and implement effective solutions.
• Support and supervise the installation of equipment ranging from standalone machinery through to complete automated production lines.
• Lead equipment commissioning, functional testing, and performance validation activities at customer sites.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and production uptime.
• Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
• Produce accurate inspection reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Act as a key technical point of contact for customers, providing engineering guidance and support before, during, and following installations.
• Work closely with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical and operational issues.
• Support the Sales team by providing technical advice regarding equipment upgrades, refurbishment opportunities, and spare parts requirements.
• Represent the business at customer meetings and industry events when required.
• Ensure all engineering activities are completed in line with Health & Safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
• Contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering and customer support teams.
• Travel extensively across the UK and Ireland, with occasional overseas assignments when required.
• Provide flexibility to support customers outside standard working hours, including overtime and occasional weekend work.
