Job Title: Field Service Engineer – Forklift Trucks
Location: Birmingham and the West Midlands
Salary: £37,000
Benefits: Company van, overtime, bonus, pension, health cash plan and life assurance
Contract: Permanent | Full-time
An established UK materials-handling business is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support its customers across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with forklift truck or materials-handling equipment experience to join a respected business offering a competitive package, ongoing training, and long-term career stability.
The Role
Working from home and travelling to customer sites throughout the region, you will service, maintain, and repair a range of forklift trucks and associated materials-handling equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Completing breakdown repairs and returning equipment to service efficiently.
- Working on both customer-owned and company-owned machinery.
- Communicating repair requirements and completion times clearly to customers.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Accurately completing service reports and supporting documentation.
- Managing your workload independently across an assigned geographical area.
- Maintaining excellent relationships with customers and internal service teams.

About You
To be considered, you will need:
- Previous experience servicing or repairing forklift trucks or similar materials-handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
- Relevant engineering qualifications or manufacturer training.
- The ability to work independently while managing a regional workload.
- A professional and customer-focused approach.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- A full UK driving licence.

Experience working with other mobile plant or capital equipment may also be considered, although forklift truck experience is essential.
