At SIM Switchgear

We are specialists in switchgear services. Electrical and mechanical engineers, consultants, thinkers and doers. Fully charged and always on.

We operate in demanding environments where safety, clarity of thinking and technical excellence are critical. From workshops to offshore platforms, from planned upgrades to reactive breakdowns, our work keeps power systems safe, protected and in control.

We are now looking for a Field Service & Commissioning Engineer based out of Liverpool to support our growing service operation. This role is not purely commissioning-based and will suit someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and working across service, maintenance, upgrades, life extension and commissioning activities.

The Role

Based in Liverpool, you will deliver a full range of field and workshop-based engineering services, supporting customers across the UK, overseas, offshore and marine sectors.

Your primary responsibility is the safe execution of service-related projects, ensuring SIM Switchgear continues to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The role includes:

  • Workshop-based preparation, testing and refurbishment work
  • On-site service, maintenance and upgrades
  • Offshore and marine mobilisations where required
  • Commissioning of installed switchgear as part of wider service activities

No two weeks look the same. This is a hands-on, technically engaging role in a fast-paced environment where mindset matters as much as skillset.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
