Role Description

The Field Services Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Sheffield Area, supporting customers who use VNA forklifts, reach trucks, and related warehouse equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The role also involves interacting directly with customers to provide technical support, explain repairs, and promote best practices for equipment use and care. Accurate documentation of service activities, parts usage, and maintenance records is required, as well as close collaboration with the office and parts departments to schedule visits and minimize customer downtime.

Qualifications

  • Strong field service experience, including on-site support for industrial or material handling equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnostics for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Hands-on technical support skills, including safe use of tools, test equipment, and service documentation.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution for forklifts or similar machinery.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and build long-term relationships.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in engineering, mechanics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices in warehouse and industrial environments.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally within the Greater Sheffield Area.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to urgent service requests.
