Field Service Engineer – Heavy Plant
Location: Nationwide – Home Based / Regional Coverage
Salary: £38,000 – £48,000 depending on experience
Benefits: Overtime, paid door-to-door travel, company van, fuel card, tools, laptop, phone and ongoing manufacturer training
We’re supporting a growing construction equipment manufacturer with the appointment of a number of Field Service Engineers across the UK.
These are home-based positions covering an agreed regional territory, working directly with customers to keep heavy plant and construction equipment running efficiently. It’s a good opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys being out in the field, solving problems and working independently, while still having the backing and training that comes with a manufacturer environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of construction and heavy plant machinery at customer sites.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
