Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Field Service Engineer role based in and around the Midlands. The Field Service Engineer will carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on diesel generators, automatic transfer switches, fuel systems, and associated critical power equipment to insure reliability to the customers equipment.

  • Diagnosing faults
  • Performing troubleshooting and repairs
  • Conducting preventive maintenance inspections
  • Supporting load bank testing and commissioning activities
  • Providing technical support on-site
  • Documenting work completed
  • Following safety and compliance procedures
  • Ensuring equipment performance meets required standards

The Field Service Engineer will interact directly with customers with a professional manner, coordinate with the wider engineering team, and participate in call-out and emergency response activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Strong field service skills with experience working on generators or related electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on diesel engines with a competent attitude towards electronic control.
  • Background in technical support, including interpreting technical documentation and using diagnostic tools.
  • Demonstrated competence in preventive maintenance, inspection routines, and reliability-focused servicing.
  • Effective customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly on-site and manage expectations.
  • Relevant vocational or technical qualification in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in critical power environments.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, manage time efficiently, and complete accurate service reports.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
  • Experience in standby power, critical infrastructure, or facilities engineering is beneficial.
