Field Service Engineer – Controls and VJ Tech
Location: United Kingdom preferred; candidates based in Poland also considered
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Service Manager
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support both Controls and VJ Tech, providing onsite and remote technical service for equipment used in construction materials and geotechnical testing.
This position offers the opportunity to work across two complementary product portfolios, supporting customers with equipment installation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, repair, and training. You will work directly with customers and collaborate with engineering and technical support teams across both businesses.
The role is ideally based in the United Kingdom, although candidates based in Poland will also be considered. Remote working may be possible, with travel to domestic and international customer sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, and repair Controls and VJ Tech equipment, including asphalt, concrete, and geotechnical testing systems.
- Diagnose equipment issues and provide onsite and remote technical support.
- Perform equipment upgrades, retrofits, and startup activities.
- Deliver equipment demonstrations and customer training on safe operation and effective use.
- Work closely with Controls engineers in Italy and VJ Tech engineering and technical support teams to resolve customer issues.
- Maintain accurate service records in the applicable support ticketing system.
- Identify root causes, document recurring issues, and share findings with engineering teams.
- Assess equipment condition, estimate repair requirements, and communicate initial repair cost estimates to customers.
- Manage assigned customer returns through the Return Merchandise Authorisation process.
- Support sales teams with technical applications, service, and warranty questions.
- Develop knowledge of both product portfolios and relevant testing methods, standards, and technologies.

Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant service and calibration experience with materials testing equipment, instrumentation, laboratory equipment, or similar technical systems.
- A technical qualification in Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related discipline, such as a degree, HND, HNC, NVQ, or equivalent.
- Understanding of calibration methods, quality systems, and relevant testing standards.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to resolving equipment issues.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, including a good standard of written and spoken English.
- Ability to manage multiple customer requests and competing priorities.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, software installation, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A full driving license valid for the location of employment and willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the role, including lifting and handling equipment.
- Willingness to learn new products, technologies, and service procedures.
