About Infrastructure
SOCOTEC's Infrastructure team delivers essential technical services that ensure the safety, quality and compliance of major construction and civil engineering projects across the UK & Ireland. We provide independent testing and inspection for a range of Infrastructure projects from: construction materials testing, geotechnical investigation, foundation testing and surveying. Our expertise supports developers, engineers and contractors in delivering safe, resilient and high-quality infrastructure. The team in Ireland (both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) have an exciting range of Projects and as a result we are needing to expand our teams.

Job Description
Field Technician
Are you a versatile, hands-on technician looking for a new challenge?
We are looking for a multi-skilled Field Technician to join our Infrastructure team, working flexibly across a range of technical disciplines including construction materials testing, geotechnical investigations, foundations and pile testing, structures and pavements assessment.
You will be based out of the Moyrusk office (near Belfast) and support projects across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys working across different projects and teams, and who is keen to broaden their skills and experience in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

As a Field Technician, you will support a wide range of site, office and laboratory activities. You will play a key role in ensuring that testing is carried out accurately, safely and in accordance with SOCOTEC's high standards of quality and compliance.
- Conducting a variety of testing activities across multiple disciplines, including: materials, geotechnical, foundations, structures and integrity testing
- Involvement in geotechnical and civil drilling activities
- Carrying out site inspections and assessments in line with project and client requirements
- Collecting, preparing and processing samples for laboratory and on-site analysis
- Operating and maintaining a range of testing equipment relevant to different specialisms
- Accurately recording test data and producing clear, timely reports
- Adhering to all health & safety procedures and site-specific requirements at all times
- Liaising professionally with clients, engineers and site teams to understand project needs
- Supporting multiple projects and teams flexibly, adapting quickly to changing priorities
- Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality and compliance
Qualifications
- Experience of construction / site activities
- A relevant technical qualification (e.g. NVQ, HNC/HND in a construction/engineering-related discipline) or equivalent practical experience
- Experience across multiple technician disciplines (materials, foundations, structures or integrity testing) is preferred but not essential
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, engineers and site teams
- A full UK driving licence, as travel to various sites will be required
- A willingness to travel to different sites across Ireland as needed
- A strong awareness of health & safety practices, ideally holding a valid CSCS card
- Good IT literacy, with the ability to accurately record data and produce reports
- A flexible, adaptable approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CSCS, NEBOSH, or specialist testing qualifications) would be an advantage
