Who will you be working with?
You will join a specialist rail systems service team supporting customers across the UK, Ireland and Europe. The team works with wayside monitoring, machine vision, acoustic, thermal, networking, electrical and mechanical rail technologies to help operators improve asset performance, operational safety and service reliability. This role is based in England and requires regular travel to customer sites across the region.
How will you make a difference?
- Attention to detail while in the field to spot mechanical, electrical and software defects
- Ability to use Electronics Test Equipment (Multimeter, RJ45 Cable Tester, Oscilloscope)
- Computer Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent Communication (Verbal and Written)
- Full UK driving licence, with ability to travel across the UK, Ireland and Europe as required
- Ability to produce clear instructions, service reports and technical documentation for field and customer use
- Strong customer service skills while on the phone / onsite
- Able to use some common mechanical tools (Wrenches, drill, and heavy-duty tools)
- Preferably hold UK PTS, Sentinel access, SNCF SECUFER or equivalent rail safety certification, or be able to attain the required qualification for the country of work
- Installation and Maintenance (Installing, configuring, and maintaining equipment onsite).
- Site Monitoring and reporting of mechanical failures of the systems or components
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues for field-based rail systems, including machine vision, acoustic, thermal, electrical and networked equipment
- Keeping records of service calls, updating databases, installations, and maintenance Service repairs.
- Training the customers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
- Performing Annual Maintenance Calibration of equipment in line with instructions
- Follow relevant rail industry regulations, local site rules and safety protocols while working on-site in the UK, Ireland or Europe
- Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance in line with instructions

What do we want to know about you?
- Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent
- Experience working across a range of engineering disciplines – mechanical, electrical, electronic, software etc
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK, Ireland and Europe, with a valid passport and eligibility to work from an England-based home location
- Prior experience working with customers and a background in the rail industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Typical Day
- Working in the field of troubleshooting system failures / determining actions to identify and resolve issues.
- Preplanning work and ensuring that the necessary safety measures are in place, risk assessments completed
- Completing the relevant paperwork to record the work done
- Monitoring of systems remotely using IT systems to access our equipment
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, Ireland and Europe to perform annual maintenance, calibration, warranty repairs, break-fix analysis and issue resolution
Working Conditions
- Ability to work safely in the rail environment, including trackside access, track walking, lifting equipment, night work and inclement weather
- Wear appropriate PPE and comply with applicable railway safety regulations and site access requirements in each country of work
- Able to pass a pre-employment drugs & alcohol screening and medical
- Working in confined spaces
- Hot work – soldering, grinding
- Understanding the Electrical Safety requirements of our systems (Lock Out procedures etc.)
- Office work as and when required to attend meetings on line and complete paperwork
- Driving to remote sites
