Film & Social Video Intern

Boteane™ | University Placement

Location: Fully Remote, UK

Placement Type: University Internship / Placement Programme

Compensation: Unpaid

Eligibility: You must be a current university student completing this internship as part of an approved university internship or placement programme

Reporting to: Founder, Boteane™

About Boteane™

Boteane™ is a premium loose-leaf tea brand reimagining tea for a new generation through beautiful products, distinctive storytelling and contemporary rituals.

We are entering an exciting stage of developing the Boteane brand and our advertising creative. We are looking for a talented film or video student who wants hands-on experience creating real advertising and social-first video for a growing consumer brand.

This is an opportunity to work on live commercial briefs, with real products, real audiences and real advertising budgets. Your work will have the opportunity to move beyond a student project and into live campaigns where its performance can be measured.

The Opportunity

Working directly with Boteane's founder, you will help turn creative and advertising briefs into compelling short-form film and video.

You will experience the complete creative process: understanding the audience, interpreting a brief, researching creative directions, developing concepts, filming, editing, publishing and learning from campaign performance.

Our campaigns will primarily run across Instagram and the Meta advertising platform, giving you practical exposure to the relationship between filmmaking, advertising, audience behaviour and commercial performance.

You'll be encouraged to bring your own creative ideas and filmmaking style while learning how to work within a defined brand, audience and commercial strategy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We want to see how you think visually. We're interested in your eye for composition, storytelling, editing, movement, atmosphere and your ability to turn an idea into film.

University projects, personal films, experimental work, social video and independent projects are all welcome.

What You'll Gain

This placement is designed to give a film student something difficult to replicate within a classroom: experience creating film that has a real commercial purpose.

Rather than simply submitting a project and receiving a grade, you'll be able to see what happens when your work meets a real audience.

You'll gain practical exposure to:

  • Commercial filmmaking
  • Creative strategy
  • Brand development
  • Instagram content
  • Meta advertising
  • Performance creative
  • Persona-led advertising
  • A/B testing
  • Campaign measurement
  • Creative iteration
  • Working directly from commercial briefs
  • Working with a founder in a growing brand

You'll be able to see how different creative decisions affect audience behaviour and use those insights to improve your next piece of work.

The aim is for you to leave the placement with published work, live campaign experience and commercially relevant projects for your portfolio.

How to Apply

Please send:

  • A short introduction about you and your university course
  • Confirmation that you can undertake an unpaid internship as part of your university's formal internship or placement programme
  • Your CV
  • A link to your video portfolio or showreel
  • A few sentences about the type of filmmaking you'd most like to develop

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal interview where we'll discuss your portfolio, creative interests and what you'd like to gain from working with Boteane™.
