Description
Finance & Accounting Analyst
About The Company
Joining our team, you’ll play an active part in helping to deliver meaningful impact. At Oxoid Remel Microbiology, acquired from Thermo Fisher Scientific, we play a crucial role in accurate identification and targeted treatment for diseases, ensuring food and beverage safety, and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing integrity. Our products and services are designed to meet the highest standards of quality and performance, helping our customers achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively.
About The Role
As the business continues to evolve, we are seeking a Finance & Accounting Analyst to support the day-to-day accounting, reporting and finance operations of the Group’s holding companies and contribute to the continued development of the Finance organisation overall.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, you will have a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day accounting and end-to-end financial reporting of the Group’s holding companies.
You will ensure transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled and supported, while contributing to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, statutory accounts, year-end audits and financial reviews.
Working closely with the wider Finance team, Tax, Treasury, Shared Services, external providers and auditors, you will also support the transition of finance activities into the new organisation and help establish effective and sustainable finance processes.
What You'll Do
- Perform day-to-day accounting and transaction processing for the Group’s holding companies, ensuring accurate and complete general ledger records.
- Support end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting activities.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Prepare balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, investigating and resolving differences.
- Account for holding-company activities including intercompany transactions, corporate costs, investments, financing, interest and dividends.
- Prepare financial reporting submissions, supporting schedules and analysis in line with Group requirements and deadlines.
- Support preparation of statutory financial statements, year-end audits and financial reviews, including audit schedules and information requests.
- Work with Tax, Treasury, Shared Services and external providers to support accounting and reporting requirements.
- Perform assigned financial controls and maintain appropriate supporting evidence and audit trails.
- Support the Finance transition and separation programme, including knowledge transfer, process documentation, data validation and testing.
- Support improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting as the new organisation is established.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
