Description
Finance & Account Manager
About The Company
Joining our team, you’ll play an active part in helping to deliver meaningful impact. At Oxoid Remel Microbiology, acquired from Thermo Fisher Scientific, we play a crucial role in accurate identification and targeted treatment for diseases, ensuring food and beverage safety, and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing integrity. Our products and services are designed to meet the highest standards of quality and performance, helping our customers achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively.
About The Role
As the business continues to evolve, we are seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to support the set-up and accounting of newly established entities to stability, and then pivot to lead the integration of Commercial entities into the organisation, and provide ongoing management and review of their financials, reporting, local statutory requirements and audit support. The role will also contribute to the continued development of the Finance organisation overall.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting, you will have a hands-on management role supporting the establishment of new legal entities end to end financial activity and then pivoting to the integration of Commercial entities into the organisation, with responsibility for the ongoing oversight, review and quality of their accounting and financial reporting.
You will oversee monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting activities, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, reconciled and appropriately supported. You will coordinate local statutory reporting, statutory accounts, year-end audits and financial reviews, and drive timely resolution of accounting and control matters.
Working closely with the wider Finance team, Commercial Finance, Tax, Treasury, Shared Services, local teams, external providers and auditors, you will support the transition and integration of finance activities into the new organisation and help establish effective, scalable and sustainable finance processes and controls.
What You'll Do
- Support the finance and accounting set-up of newly established entities, including chart of accounts, accounting processes, reporting requirements, controls, AP, AR, R2R, opening balances and coordination with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage and review end-to-end monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting activities for assigned entities, ensuring completeness, accuracy and delivery in line with Group deadlines.
- Review journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting entries, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment, supporting documentation and approval.
- Review balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, challenge aged or unusual items, and ensure differences and reconciling items are resolved on a timely basis.
- Lead the finance integration of Commercial entities into the organisation, including transition of accounting activities, alignment to Group policies and processes, data validation, reporting requirements and financial controls.
- Manage and review financial reporting submissions, supporting schedules, variance analysis and commentary, providing clear insight into entity financial performance and key balance sheet movements.
- Coordinate local statutory accounting and reporting requirements, including preparation and review of statutory financial statements, local filings, audit schedules and responses to external auditor information requests.
- Partner with Commercial Finance, Tax, Treasury, Shared Services, local finance teams and external providers to ensure entity accounting, reporting, tax, treasury and compliance requirements are appropriately supported and delivered.
- Own and review assigned financial controls, ensuring appropriate evidence, documentation and audit trails are maintained and that control issues are identified, escalated and remediated.
- Support the Finance transition, separation and integration programme, including knowledge transfer, process documentation, data migration and validation, testing, cutover activities and post-transition stabilisation.
- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, controls and reporting as the new organisation is established, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and strengthen ways of working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
