About The Role
At AO Recycling, we are committed to extracting as much value as possible from the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that is thrown away by UK households every year. Like the rest of the AO Group, we are a very exciting and enthusiastic company to work for. The role will be located at our site in Telford, Shropshire, which uses state of the art technology and is able to process more items, more efficiently than any other site in the UK.
Would you love the opportunity to further your accounting career and step into an Accounts Assistant role in our AO Recycling division? This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently studying or intending to continue onto a CIMA qualification to expand their on the job experience whilst being closely mentored by an experienced nearly qualified accountant.
You’ll get the opportunity to make a real difference in all aspects of our financial reporting such as forecasting, management accounts and fixed asset accounting. Reporting to Sophie, the role is designed to give good all round accounting experience, with full training provided for the tasks required and support given to complete your journey to becoming a fully qualified accountant.

Based at our site in Halesfield15, with occasional travel to our plastic Plant on Stafford Park.
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Assisting with the production of the month end management accounts including posting prepayments and accruals for review
- Fixed asset recording of additions, disposals and monthly depreciation for owned assets.
- Analysing expenditure on allocated P&L categories
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly forecasts and the annual budget
- Completion of daily cash flow
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly reconciliation of sales and output VAT in the general ledger to the VAT return
- Ad hoc tasks where required/assisting with adhoc queries such as Tax, audit etc.
The role will be part of the CIMA Glidepath which involves 6 monthly reviews against the following areas: Effective completion of tasks, understanding accounts and double entry accounting, identifying and implementing process improvements, good communication and exams success
A Few Things About You
- Desire to learn, develop and pursue a professional accountancy qualification, ideally already studying CIMA or equivalent
- Relevant accounting experience at a junior level would be beneficial e.g. sales ledger, purchase ledger
- Have experience in Excel
- Ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders across the business
- Take ownership of tasks, maintaining focus when events become chaotic
- Listens to gain understanding and expresses information clearly and concisely
