Our client design, manufacture and distribute high quality, energy efficient commercial lighting products.

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced Finance & Accounts Officer. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the day-to-day finance function within the business.

Working as the sole member of the finance team, you will manage a broad range of accounting and financial administration duties.

  • Part time role - 25 hours a week
  • Up to £23 per hour

Finance & Accounts Officer - Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
  • Manage sales and purchase ledgers, including invoicing, cash receipts, credit control, supplier invoices, payment runs and statement reconciliations.
  • Maintain the cash book and online banking, including bank reconciliations, payments, transfers and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Prepare management accounts and month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations and stock reconciliations.
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll, including RTI submissions, pension data, PAYE payments and year-end requirements.
  • Manage VAT, including reconciliations, postponed VAT, quarterly MTD submissions and HMRC payments.
  • Maintain financial spreadsheets and records, supporting month-end and year-end procedures.
  • Complete a range of statutory and general financial administration, including Confirmation Statements, company accounts, insurance, vehicle records, licences and utilities.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, banks, HMRC and senior management as required.

  • Previous experience in a broad finance or accounts/finance role.
  • Good knowledge of sales ledger, purchase ledger and cash book processes.
  • Experience with Sage payroll
  • Experience processing payroll and completing RTI submissions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
