Finance & Accounts Assistant – Part-Time
📍 Birmingham – Hybrid
💷 £15 per hour
⏰ 10 hours per week
📅 Saturday onsite is mandatory

Brainology is looking for an experienced Finance & Accounts Assistant to support our growing education business.
This is a hands-on finance role. We need someone who is organised, confident working through outstanding accounts and able to take ownership of day-to-day finance administration.
Working Hours
- 10 hours per week:
- 4 hours onsite every Saturday at Ark Victoria Academy, 10:00am–2:30pm
- 6 hours remote during the week
- Saturday attendance is essential
Key Responsibilities
- Work through our backlog of outstanding payments
- Contact parents regarding overdue balances and payments due
- Reconcile incoming payments against student accounts and invoices
- Identify unpaid, missing or incorrectly allocated payments
- Maintain accurate finance and payment records
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding account issues
- Support invoicing and payment tracking
- Keep clear records of amounts outstanding and actions taken
- Produce regular updates on debtors, collections and reconciliations
- Liaise with our wider operations team where finance issues need resolving
- Support other day-to-day finance and accounts tasks across Brainology

Who We’re Looking For
You must have previous experience working within a finance, accounts, bookkeeping or similar function.
You should be:
- Confident with reconciliations and payment tracking
- Comfortable chasing outstanding payments professionally
- Highly organised and accurate
- Strong with spreadsheets and financial records
- Able to work independently and clear a backlog efficiently
- Proactive — we want someone who identifies issues and gets them resolved
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment

Experience within education, childcare, tuition or a similar parent/customer payment environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
This is not simply an admin position. We need someone who can take ownership of the finance workload, improve the way we manage payments and help ensure money owed to the business is collected and correctly reconciled.
