Finance Assistant (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

£28,000 - £29,000 + Excellent Benefits

THE ORGANISATION

Our client is a well-established and growing business operating across multiple entities, with a collaborative and supportive finance team at its core. THE ROLE

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the business on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Working as part of a close-knit bookkeeping and finance team, you will support the day-to-day financial operations across a portfolio of entities, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to both accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, working closely with colleagues across Finance, Operations and Asset Management. Full training will be provided, including support with VAT returns and Sage 200.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Managing sales and purchase ledger activities across multiple entities.
  • Reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies.
  • Supporting cash allocation and payment processing activities.
  • Assisting with month-end finance tasks and reporting requirements.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders across various departments to resolve finance queries.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Working with Sage 200 and other finance systems.
  • Contributing to process improvements and ensuring finance procedures are followed.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Recent experience in a Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper or similar finance position.
  • Practical experience across both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable building relationships and working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proactive, inquisitive and eager to learn new systems and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Experience using finance systems; exposure to Sage would be advantageous, although training will be provided.

  • Salary: £29,000.
  • 12-month fixed-term contract.
  • 37.5-hour working week with flexible working hours.
  • Core operating hours between 7am and 7pm. Flexible start and finishing times.
  • Hybrid working with the team typically attending the office on Wednesdays.
  • Additional office attendance may be required during training and onboarding.
  • 28 days annual leave plus 5 additional company holidays.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Following successful completion of probation: Life Assurance and Bupa Private Medical Cover.
