Finance Analyst

Location: Derby (Hybrid - 3 days on-site)

Contract: Up to 12 months (with likelihood of extension)

Pay Rate: Up to £450 per day (Umbrella)

An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Analyst to join the Civil UK HQ finance team. This role sits in Civil financial reporting and control, and focuses on accurate period-end reporting, FX revaluation, journals, balance sheet integrity, and timely deliverables for Group, Civil stakeholders, and external auditors.

About the Role

As Finance Analyst, you will own key Civil UK HQ period-end activities. You will prepare the quarterly FX revaluation and FX reporting packs, post period-end journals for operating costs, recharges, and central accruals, and lead Civil HQ balance sheet reviews. You will also support the Civil Finance Control team on queries, investigations, and process improvement across the Civil business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the quarterly FX revaluation for Civil UK and explain movements to stakeholders.
  • Produce Civil UK FX reporting deliverables for external auditors, Group Finance, and Civil stakeholders.
  • Prepare period-end journals relating to operating costs, recharges, and central accruals.
  • Perform Civil HQ balance sheet reviews, reconcile key accounts, and present findings to key stakeholders.
  • Support the Civil Finance Control team with ad hoc financial queries, investigations, and requests.
  • Support financial projects and process improvement initiatives across the Civil business.
  • Deliver high-quality outputs to challenging close and audit deadlines, including during statutory reporting peaks.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • 3+ years' experience working in finance, with a proven track record of period-end reporting.
  • Hands-on experience of FX/foreign exchange revaluation and FX reporting.
  • Experience of journals, accruals, recharges, and balance sheet reviews.
  • Strong Excel skills; working knowledge of SAP and HFM.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a track record of delivering quality results to tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and good judgement.
  • Clear communication and the ability to support multiple stakeholders.
