About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Synchronicity Earth, a global conservation charity working to protect some of the world's most overlooked and threatened species and ecosystems.
Working with more than 130 conservation partners worldwide, Synchronicity Earth takes a long-term, trust-based approach to funding conservation and supporting locally led solutions.
As Finance Analyst, you'll work closely with the Finance Business Partner to support grants, due diligence, financial planning and reporting across a varied portfolio of conservation, culture and hosted initiatives. In a small organisation, you'll have the opportunity to wear many hats, build relationships across teams and make a visible contribution to how finance supports the organisation.
This role will suit someone who is curious about data, systems and process improvement - not simply someone looking to learn an established set of processes. You'll help improve the way information moves between Finance and Programmes, use Excel and Salesforce to strengthen reporting, and develop the confidence to support and challenge budget holders constructively.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the Finance Business Partner with the pipeline of planned grants and maintaining clear, consistent communication with programme colleagues.
- Carrying out due diligence and risk assessments for lower-risk grant partners, tracking recommendations and following up with partners where needed.
- Providing grants and contracts administration across conservation, culture and hosted initiatives, including support to the SHOAL initiative.
- Acting as the main Finance contact for Salesforce queries, troubleshooting workflows and helping colleagues use the system effectively.
- Maintaining data integrity between Salesforce and NetSuite and helping automate tracking and reconciliation wherever possible.
- Developing reports, dashboards and Excel models to improve visibility of grants, due diligence, budgets and programme funding.
- Supporting monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and programme funding reports for budget holders, the Leadership Team and Board.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and working with Finance, Programmes and Operations to put improvements into practice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you
You may be studying towards an accountancy qualification or qualified by experience. Strong technical accounting knowledge is less important than curiosity, analytical ability and the drive to improve how things are done.
You'll be confident using Excel and working with data, with an interest in systems, automation and process improvement. You'll also be a strong communicator who enjoys speaking with colleagues across the organisation, can build trusted relationships and is comfortable managing several grants, programmes and priorities at the same time.
Experience of grant administration, CRM systems - ideally Salesforce - large datasets or financial reporting would be helpful. You'll be proactive, adaptable and willing to question existing processes rather than simply follow them.
