At Eversheds Sutherland, our business services teams play a critical role in supporting the firm and delivering an exceptional service to our clients. As a Finance Assistant within our Cash Management team, you will join a collaborative and fast-paced environment where accuracy, attention to detail and excellent stakeholder service are key.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our busy cash team. The team is responsible for all cash transactions for the firm worldwide and reconcile all bank accounts globally. The cash team role is pivotal to ensuring this is undertaken efficiently and professionally, and within the regulatory framework.
You will have gained commercial experience working within a regulated finance role within a professional services environment, ideally within a law firm or you will be educated with a relevant finance/maths degree. You will be a self-motivated individual and have the ability to work as part of a team or autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing client and office account payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitoring and allocating incoming receipts to the correct accounts.
- Preparing and processing electronic payment requests.
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
- Supporting the management of client monies in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Assisting with domestic and international payments, including foreign currency transactions.
- Resolving payment and receipt queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and audit trails.
- Supporting month-end processes and reporting activities.
- Monitoring outstanding items and assisting with the resolution of unallocated cash.
- Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Finance and the wider business.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Skills & Experience:
We are looking for:
- Experience of bank reconciliations, payment processing and cash allocation.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
- A proactive and team-focused approach.
