We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Finance team at Greggs as a Finance Analyst.

We're looking for a graduate (or part-qualified accountant) wanting to start a career in finance and complete a professional accounting qualification.

It is an exciting time for us, both as a business as we grow by expanding our estate, expanding delivery reach, and increasing engagement with the Greggs App, but also as a Finance team following our implementation of Microsoft Power Business Intelligence and S/4 Hana ERP system. Greggs have been highly successful following the adoption of our food-on-the-go strategy and we’re a much-loved brand across the UK. We’re looking to build on this success and continue to grow further in the future.

About the role

This is a full-time role however flexibility in this will be considered

The base location for this role is Greggs House, Quorum Business Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne

What you'll do

Our Finance Analysts work across the Central Accounting Team, managing core accounting processes including period-end close activities, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting policies; the Business Partnering Team, working with our Retail, Commercial, Supply Chain, Customer and IT teams to support decision making / challenging management; and our Financial Planning and Analysis Team who are responsible for our internal financial reporting, financial planning, and sustainability reporting.

Your first role will be within our Central Accounting Team, assisting with property finance activities and identifying opportunities to improve and drive operational efficiencies across property finance processes. This will provide hands-on experience of working within a financial processing function allowing you to build knowledge of core systems and processes and understand the importance of internal controls and complying with accounting standards.

You will look to grow and develop into a Finance career with Greggs carrying a spirit of continuous improvement whilst pursuing financial professional qualifications. You will also gain both knowledge and experience across the Finance function over the coming years as a solid platform to build a successful career.

After your initial placement there will be the opportunity to develop skills in the other areas within the Finance teams.

  • Retail: retail operations performance and profitability
  • Supply Chain: manufacturing & distribution sites performance
  • Commercial: product / category margins, franchise / wholesale
  • Marketing & IT: Campaign effectiveness and emerging technology
  • FP&A: internal finance reporting, sustainability support & financial planning

About you

You’ll fit right into Greggs as a Finance Analyst if you:

  • Are a graduate (or already a part-qualified accountant) looking to start a career in finance and wanting to complete a professional accounting qualification
  • Have strong IT literacy, with confidence using Microsoft products (e.g., Outlook, Word, Teams), advanced Excel skills and the ability to manipulate data. Some knowledge of SAP and business intelligence software would be advantageous but not required
  • Are analytical and inquisitive in nature, with a high level of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Are organised and able to plan, prioritise and manage your own workload
  • Have the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Are self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and take a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Are a good communicator and team player, with the ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Have a sound level of commercial awareness. Work experience in a retail, manufacturing or logistics environment would be beneficial.
  • Enjoy being part of a hard-working team, sharing the same end goal, and celebrating results together
