Job Description

Finance Analyst - Procurement

Location: Derby
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days a week in the office
Employment Type: Full time

Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Analyst to join the team. In this role, you will provide analytical support and strategic insight to the assigned Finance Business Partner, ensuring robust financial management and informed decision-making within the Procurement function.

You will work closely with the Procurement category team and wider stakeholders across a broad range of financial activities, including month-end reporting, forecasting and planning, financial governance, supplier financial analysis, capital funding and third-party engineering cost recovery.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Month-End and Reporting: Execute standard month-end finance activities, including preparation of accruals, provisions and variance analysis. Deliver accurate and timely financial reports to key stakeholders, providing insights on business performance and trends.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with the Procurement category team, acting as a financial steward and providing objective analysis to support key business initiatives and strategic decisions.
  • Financial Accountability: Maintain full accountability for the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow within the designated business area during forecasting, budgeting and planning cycles.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure strong financial governance by completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and coordinating bi-annual full balance sheet reviews in line with company policies.
  • Supplier Financial Analysis: Support procurement and risk management processes by analysing financial statements of new and existing suppliers, contributing to supplier financial risk assessments and decision-making.
  • Capital Funding: Work alongside the Procurement function to progress capital schemes for supplier tooling. Act as a financial conscience to ensure scheme documents submitted to executives are comprehensive and abide by central guidance.
  • Third-Party Engineering Support: Assist in recovering engineering costs for work undertaken supporting third-party companies. Support the end-to-end process from identifying costs incurred to invoicing customers and recovering cash.

Position Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). If not fully qualified then working towards.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience of month-end finance activities, including accruals, provisions and variance analysis.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and provide insight to support business decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience of working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience using relevant financial and digital tools.
  • Experience of financial governance, including balance sheet reconciliations and reviews.
