Finance and Office Manager, Balaena Head Office, Delabole
Are you an organised, hands-on finance professional looking for a varied role in a growing business?
This role will be great for you if you’re an Accountant who can do the company accounts and payroll as well as general management of our office, on site in Delabole.
If you like to own your role and are at your best working closely with senior leadership and external advisors, you’ll enjoy working within our small, close knit Head Office team as we grow.

So what will you do?
You will do a broad mix of accounting, payroll and office management from maintaining accurate financial records and supporting management accounts to overseeing office supplies, correspondence and facilities
It will be a varied role and the chance for you to make a visible impact as you’ll be hands on with ledger work, payments, expenses, bank recs, journals, accruals, prepayments, cards and general reporting to support cashflow etc
Also, you’ll be working closely with senior leadership, external accountants, auditors and the wider administration team on the preparation for statutory and reporting of statutory accounts
You’ll do payroll for head office employees and look after head office bill payments
So what are we looking for?
- Experience with the day-to-day processing of accounts. If you’ve used Sage or Business Central that would be great!
- AAT or a qualified accountant ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent
- Someone who pays exceptional attention to detail but also can see the bigger financial picture
- Experience with statutory account preparation and working with auditors
- Someone who can work both within our team and when needed independently while managing multiple priorities
- Most importantly you’ll bring a proactive, professional and discreet approach while you handle sensitive information with care. Trustworthiness and integrity are a must in this critical role

Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.
You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
