The City of Edinburgh Council is offering an exciting 12-month placement within our Finance & Procurement Service, giving university students the opportunity to gain practical experience in one of Scotland's largest and most dynamic public sector organisations.
This is your chance to work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to major transformation programmes, and gain valuable experience in finance, procurement, business improvement, data analysis, and organisational change.
About The Role
As a Finance & Procurement Placement, you'll become part of a team helping deliver services that support the Council's strategic priorities and financial sustainability. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues on a variety of projects, gaining experience across different areas of Finance and Procurement while developing the professional skills needed for your future career.
Throughout your placement, you'll receive structured support, mentoring, and development, giving you the opportunity to build confidence, expand your knowledge, and make a genuine contribution.
What You'll Do
You Could Be Involved In
- Supporting improvement and transformation projects.
- Researching new ideas and best practice.
- Preparing reports, presentations and briefing papers.
- Analyzing financial, procurement, and performance information.
- Supporting workforce planning and organisational improvement.
- Helping teams improve processes and services.
- Working with colleagues across different Council services.

This position is subject to Basic Disclosure check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
