Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training are recruiting Accountancy Apprentices for local companies. We are looking for ambitious candidates who are ready to start a career in accountancy and are keen to progress in the world of finance.

Wage: Competitive

Training course: Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)

Hours: The hours of work will be between 35 and 40 hours per week dependant on the company. 40 hours a week

Start date: Monday 7 September 2026

Duration: 1 year 4 months

Positions available: 2

What you'll do at work

Working in partnership, HWGTA are recruiting Accountancy Apprentices for local Companies.

Here is an example of what the role will include:

  • Learning vital office skills including planning, organising, filing, processing, and managing correspondence
  • Processing invoices and resolving queries
  • Handling banking, reconciliations, and petty cash
  • Checking and maintaining high-quality transactional data

What you'll learn

Course contents:

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located at Mc Kenzie Way, Worcester WR4 9GN.

You will receive training one day per week which is a combination of face-to-face and remote, as per your assigned training plan.

Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Accounts/ Finance Assistant Level 2 qualification.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English Language or literature (grade 4 - 9)
  • Mathematics (grade 4 - 9)
