We are looking for a level 2 or level 3 apprentice

We are looking for a level 2 or level 3 apprentice to support the Finance team in the day-to-day processing of financial transactions while completing an Accounts Assistant apprenticeship qualification. The role provides practical experience across accounts administration, accounts receivables, accounts payables and month-end activities.

What you'll do at work

  • Monitor customer accounts and identify overdue invoices
  • Contact customers in a structured manner to inform them of the balance due
  • Send payment reminders and statements
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer communications
  • Allocate incoming payments to customer account
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies
  • Track and respond to customer queries relating to invoices and payments
  • Escalate unresolved or high-risk debt issues to senior credit controllers or management
  • Assist in preparing aged debt reports
  • Update customer account information in the finance system
  • Help assess customer credit limits and maintain credit records
  • Take customer credit cards payments
  • Assist with processing purchase invoices and expenses
  • Data cleanse in the finance system

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • Maths and English (grade 5 / C or above)
