Start your finance career with a hands-on apprenticeship at Space Engineering Services

You'll gain practical experience across sales and purchase ledgers, credit control, bank reconciliations, management accounting, and month-end reporting, while supporting key business projects, including the implementation of a new work order system.

As a Finance Apprentice, you will be supporting Space Engineering Services by undertaking/supporting with the following:

Sales ledger and credit control

  • Downloading, posting and allocating daily cash receipts from customers to the finance system
  • Assisting with the processing of customer invoices and credit notes
  • Preparing customer costings to support invoicing
  • Supporting credit control activities, including contacting customers regarding outstanding balances

Purchase Ledger

  • Assisting with the processing of supplier invoices, including matching to PO’s and managing exceptions
  • Reconciling supplier statements

Management Accounting

  • Performing daily bank reconciliations
  • Preparing and posting journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Assisting with month end accounts preparation and reporting

Other

  • Supporting the department through the implementation of a new work order system

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

You will attend SGS College's Filton Campus on a day-release basis throughout your apprenticeship, completing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required as part of your apprenticeship programme.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 4 and above)
    • Maths (grade 5 and above)
