The Role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join an established finance team and support the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. Reporting into the senior finance team, you will take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records across purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking and reconciliations, while supporting the smooth running of the wider finance function.

This would suit someone with hands-on transactional finance experience who is comfortable managing a varied workload and working with colleagues and stakeholders across an organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day purchase and sales ledger, including invoice processing, coding and supplier payments
  • Raise sales invoices and accurately record incoming payments and income
  • Complete bank, ledger and control account reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records across multiple accounts and entities
  • Administer BACS payments, credit cards and petty cash
  • Support inter-entity reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Liaise with budget holders and colleagues to ensure transactions are appropriately authorised
  • Provide general support to the wider finance team and help maintain effective financial processes and controls

About You

  • Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or transactional finance role
  • Good knowledge of purchase and sales ledger processes
  • Experience completing bank and account reconciliations
  • Confidence processing invoices, payments and financial transactions
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good Excel and finance systems skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with finance and non-finance colleagues
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work

Experience within the charity, housing, care or wider not-for-profit sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
