We’re looking for an experienced and highly organised Finance Assistant to join our team and support the day-to-day financial operations across the Bridges group of businesses.
This is a great opportunity for someone who already has experience working with Xero, bookkeeping and payroll and is looking for a role where they can take real ownership of day-to-day finance while continuing to develop their knowledge and experience.
Working closely with our Head of Operations & Finance, you’ll be responsible for keeping our financial administration accurate, organised and up to date across our Estate Agency, Property Management and Financial Services businesses.
As the role develops, you’ll also gain greater exposure to areas including cashflow forecasting, month-end processes, management accounts and lettings/client accounting.
What Will Your Day Look Like?
No two days will be exactly the same, but your responsibilities will include:
- Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records
- Raising sales invoices across our businesses
- Preparing weekly supplier payment runs
- Monitoring outstanding invoices and carrying out credit control
- Allocating customer payments and processing credit notes
- Daily bookkeeping within Xero
- Completing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Processing expenses
- Supporting month-end finance procedures
- Supporting monthly payroll preparation, including commission, overtime and holiday pay calculations
- Maintaining accurate finance records, documentation and procedures
- Updating cashflow information and supporting weekly cashflow reporting
- Assisting with financial reporting and identifying any discrepancies or potential issues

You’ll also develop your knowledge of the financial side of our growing Property Management business, including rent processing, landlord and contractor payments, deposit reconciliation, client money controls and lettings finance reporting.
Alongside your core finance responsibilities, you’ll continue to work as part of our wider administration team, providing support when required with areas such as incoming calls, shared inboxes, WhatsApp client communications, AML checks and general business administration.
What Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for someone who is naturally organised, accurate and comfortable working with numbers.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role
- Experience using Xero
- Previous payroll experience
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent numerical ability
- Strong attention to detail
- Great organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities
- A high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Confidence taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues

Experience within property, lettings finance, client accounting, cashflow forecasting or management reporting would be beneficial, but isn't essential.
Your Development
We want this role to develop beyond transactional finance.
During your first year, you’ll work closely with our Head of Operations & Finance to build your knowledge and confidence across:
- Cashflow forecasting
- Month-end reconciliations
- Management accounts
- Financial reporting and analysis
- Lettings and client accounting
- Financial controls
- Process improvement
- Finance systems across our three businesses
The aim is for you to become a trusted and knowledgeable part of our finance function, with increasing ownership and responsibility as your experience develops.
