Position: Finance Assistant

No. of Hours: 12 hours per week

Period of Employment: Permanent

Telford & Wrekin CVS is looking for an organised and motivated Finance Assistant to join our friendly team.

You'll support the day-to-day finance function, including invoice processing, petty cash, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and general financial administration.

Requirements:

  • AAT Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using accounts and payroll software
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A proactive approach and commitment to confidentiality

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase invoices in line with Telford & Wrekin CVS financial policies and procedures
  • Administer and account for Petty Cash and company credit cards
  • Assist with bank reconciliations for all bank accounts
  • Assist with the monthly payrolls for both Telford & Wrekin CVS and client payrolls
  • Undertake regular banking of cash takings in line with financial procedures
  • Answering the main phone line when necessary
  • Ordering items across TWCVS services
  • Carry out other duties from time to time as appropriate

Qualifications / Experience

  • Evidence of a solid general education is required together with GCSE A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent in English Language and Maths.
  • AAT Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Strong Excel skills and be willing to continually embrace technological change to ensure efficiency.
  • Knowledge of Sage Accounts is highly desirable but not crucial.
  • Evidence of further education or training that would support your application.

Hours of Work:

  • Normal office hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 5.00 pm.
  • “Out of Hours” work and a flexible working pattern will be necessary.
  • Time off in lieu can be arranged (overtime is not paid).

Place of Work:

  • Suite 12 & 15, Hazledine House, Central Square, Telford Centre, Telford, Shropshire, TF3 4JL
  • You will be required to work at any of our premises from time to time.

Further Information

  • The postholder may be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • For roles that involve handling money or sensitive financial information, an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required before any appointment can be confirmed.
  • The post holder will be required to complete a questionnaire to assess any health and safety workplace needs through the Local Authority’s Occupational Health Service.
