Finance Assistant (6-Month Temporary Contract) 📍 Near Oval Station, London 🏢 Hybrid Working: 3 Days in the Office ⏳ 6-Month Temporary Contract

The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join a fast-growing and dynamic business on a 6-month temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative finance team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a rapidly expanding organisation.

Working closely with experienced finance professionals, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing high volumes of transactions, and supporting project-based accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing & Reconciliations

  • Process supplier invoices, credit card transactions and employee expenses accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Code and categorise transactions using accounts payable systems.

Stakeholder & Process Support

  • Act as a key finance contact for internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with suppliers and colleagues regarding invoice queries and missing documentation.
  • Support finance projects and contribute to process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve efficiency.

Project Accounting

  • Manage project and departmental cost allocations.
  • Work closely with budget holders to ensure accurate cost tracking.
  • Support project-level financial reporting and analysis.

Invoicing & Reporting

  • Raise sales invoices and track payments.
  • Assist with month-end accounting procedures and reporting activities.

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll have:

  • Previous experience in a busy, high-volume finance environment.
  • Experience using accounts payable or spend-management systems.
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence communicating with stakeholders and resolving issues proactively.
  • An interest in process improvement, automation, and technology.

Desirable

  • Experience with project or departmental accounting.
  • Exposure to project accounting software.
  • Experience within media, entertainment, or creative-sector businesses.
  • Studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or a similar qualification.
