Finance Assistant

Newbury
Hybrid - Part-time or Full-time considered
£16.71 per hour (including holiday pay)

My client, a charity in Newbury, are looking for a part-time Finance Assistant to cover an immediate temporary need until February 2027.

The charity use Microsoft Business Central as their ERP so are in need of someone with experience of the platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase and sales ledger transactions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including raising purchase orders, processing supplier invoices, issuing sales invoices, allocating income, and maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Perform regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly, investigating discrepancies, and supporting month-end reporting processes
  • Support charity income processing and reporting, including donations, grant income, fundraising receipts, Gift Aid submissions, and project coding, ensuring compliance with charity accounting standards
  • Process employee expenses, supplier payments and finance administration tasks, acting as a first point of contact for finance queries and providing excellent internal and external customer service
  • Assist with month-end, year-end and audit preparation, maintaining strong financial controls, producing supporting documentation, and helping the finance team deliver accurate and timely financial information for stakeholders

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping position
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or a similar ERP system)
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Confident using Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Charity sector experience desirable but not essential
