Our client is seeking a Finance Assistant to support their Finance Director and Financial Controller within a busy operational environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial processes, forecasting, and reporting.
Working closely with operational teams, as the Finance Assistant you will play a key role in supporting financial planning, cost control, reporting, and decision-making activities across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support financial planning, forecasting, and reporting activities.
- Maintain cost, revenue, and cash flow forecasts.
- Assist with budgeting, operational planning, and resource forecasting.
- Track and analyse costs, revenues, accruals, and allocations.
- Support payroll accounting, billing, treasury activities, and invoicing processes.
- Produce cost centre reports and financial performance analysis.
- Liaise with procurement teams to ensure accurate cost recognition and reporting.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and periodic postings.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Present financial information and analysis to operational stakeholders.

Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a finance, accounting, or financial control support role.
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, cash flow, and profit & loss reporting.
- Experience producing financial reports and analysing business performance.
- Cash flow forecasting experience.
- Knowledge of cost centre reporting and financial controls.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Ability to work closely with operational and management teams.

Desirable
- AAT, CIMA, or equivalent finance qualifications (not essential).
- Experience within aerospace, defence, MOD, or highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and financial coding structures.
