Finance Assistant
This is an 80% FTE, 30 hours per week.
£30,000, pro-rata £24,000 (band E)
Dual site at the Honiton offices and Greendale depot
EdenServ is a modern, council-owned environmental services company established to deliver recycling, waste and environmental services across East Devon. Created by East Devon District Council and building on years of local operational experience, EdenServ brings together public accountability, service resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide accurate and reliable support for our daily finance. In collaboration with the Finance Business Partner, you will handle purchase and sales ledger transactions, issue invoices, monitor outstanding balances, and assist with payments, receipts, and transfers.

Your responsibilities will also include:
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Maintaining precise financial records in Xero
- Supporting credit control, reporting, audit preparation, and end and year-end processes
- Responding professionally and helpfully to queries from colleagues, suppliers, contractors, and customers
Some hybrid working options may be available after successfully completing your probationary period.
Requirements:
- Practical experience of purchase and sales ledger work, bank reconciliations, financial record keeping and supporting month-end activity
- GCSEs, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, together with a relevant finance, bookkeeping or business administration qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, including formulae, sorting, filtering and pivot tables, and understand the importance of confidentiality, data accuracy and GDPR
- Experience of Xero or similar accounting software and an AAT qualification, or progress towards one, would be an advantage
- Organised, reliable, and able to communicate clearly while delivering accurate work to agreed deadlines
