We are currently looking for a Finance Assistant.

The Finance Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Management Accountant. The role is responsible for processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with reconciliations, accruals, and month-end tasks. The Finance Assistant also contributes to supplier payments, expense processing, and intercompany recharges, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial operations.

Financial Operations

  • Reconcile and process client payments accurately and on time.
  • Generate and issue bank remittances.
  • Complete client account bank reconciliations in Sage.
  • Process and validate cost of sales against revenue.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and prepare supplier payment runs.
  • Manage the purchase ledger inbox, ensuring timely processing of invoices and queries.
  • Process internal staff expense claims.

Month-End & Year-End Support

  • Prepare and post accruals and prepayments.
  • Assist the Management Accountant with intercompany recharges.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by providing reconciliations and schedules.
  • Provide information and documentation to support audits.

Continuous Improvement & Team Support

  • Contribute to system development, process improvements, and project work.
  • Cross-train across finance tasks to provide cover when required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across finance and the wider business.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work with discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • AAT qualification or working towards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (ideally Sage 200).
  • Experience with reconciliations and general ledger functions.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Previous experience supporting month-end or year-end reporting.
  • Experience in a commercial, service-led, or property-related business.
