Finance Assistant

£25,500 – £27,200 per annum + 2% performance-based annual bonus

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Remote or hybrid working options available

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This role plays a key part in supporting day-to-day transactional finance activities, with a strong focus on bank reconciliations, credit control, and premium collection. You will help ensure the accurate management of policyholder balances and cash collection, working within established processes and internal controls.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative or finance support experience who is looking to develop a long-term career within a professional and supportive finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Finance Assistant, you will:

  • Process incoming payments, including card payments, bank transfers, and direct debits
  • Support daily reconciliations of designated bank accounts
  • Assist with new and renewal policy credit control activities
  • Liaise professionally with brokers, clients, and internal teams regarding balances and payments
  • Support group credit control activities and provide holiday cover where required
  • Assist with policy cancellation and reinstatement processes due to non-payment
  • Support the processing of client refunds
  • Review outstanding balances and follow up where appropriate
  • Respond to card and direct debit disputes
  • Handle client and broker queries by phone in a professional manner
  • Liaise with third-party payment and banking providers
  • Provide general administrative support, including document management
  • Carry out other reasonable duties in line with the role

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an office-based, administrative, or finance support role
  • Strong numerical accuracy and ability to work confidently with financial information
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes
  • Professional communication skills when dealing with brokers and policyholders
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office systems

Desirable:

  • Experience in a finance, credit control, or reconciliation environment
  • Exposure to banking platforms, card payments, or SEPA direct debit processing
