Title: Finance Assistant
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Finance Lead
Salary: ÂŁ30,000 - ÂŁ35,000 (depending on experience and seniority)
Benefits & Culture: Lottieâs careers page here
Equity: A very generous EMI share offering.
Holiday: 26 days + bank holidays.
Mission: Elevate later life for everybody and build the care sector of the future.
Office Policy: Hybrid with two core office days.
Office Location: London Bridge, London, UK.
The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with around a year of experience behind them, eager to build a career in finance. If you're proactive, you want real ownership over your work, and you genuinely get excited about using AI and tech to make things better and faster - this role is perfect for you.
Youâll work directly with experienced professionals whoâve built finance functions in fast growing startups, learning from their expertise while gaining hands-on experience across all areas of Finance operations. Weâll sponsor you through your ACCA qualification, giving you a structured pathway to becoming a well-rounded finance professional.
What does this role involve?
- Lead Accounts Receivable Collections: Own the AR collection process end-to-end, driving continuous improvement on key metrics (DSO and past due aging). Work directly with partners and cross-functional teams to resolve payment issues. Own and optimise our Collections Management system (Chaser).
- Finance Operations & Onboarding: Handle daily finance admin such as our inbox and issuing credit notes. Onboard partners to our systems for accurate billing and support on VAT returns.
- Accounts Payable Management: Process invoices, review for policy compliance, oversee the approval workflow, and ensure proper controls are maintained.
- Support Month-End Close Activities: Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, post journal entries, and ensure accurate financial records to support a timely month-end close and financial reporting.
- Drive Process Improvement and Automation Initiatives: Collaborate with the wider finance and operations teams to identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls. Evaluate manual workflows and recommend automation solutions with use of technology and AI tools.
- Assisting with ad-hoc finance projects, reports and analysis as needed
What problems will you be solving?
- Scaling Without Breaking: Weâre growing fast and our manual processes are screaming to be fixed. Youâll spot the opportunities, decide what to build and ship improvements that work. Use whatever tech makes sense - AI, automation or smarter workflows.
- Cash Flow & Collections: Right now, chasing can be manual and messy. Youâll build a better system to optimise how we chase invoices and get cash arriving faster.
- Month-End Close Efficiency: We close in three days and we want to keep it that way as we grow. Youâll protect that speed by spotting bottlenecks, tightening reconciliations and automating manual work.
We think youâll be a great fit ifâŠ
- You've Got Some Experience: Around a year in a finance or finance-adjacent role - AR, AP, bookkeeping, credit control, a placement or an internship.
- You're Career-Minded: You have a genuine interest in building a career in finance and developing expertise across finance operations. Youâre keen to learn and develop your skills - whether thatâs through formal qualifications, building experience or both.
- Youâre Eager to Learn: You genuinely want to build your knowledge from the ground up, work closely with experienced colleagues, and grow your expertise over time.
- Youâre a Strong Communicator: You communicate clearly and effectively with both internal teams and external partners. Youâre articulate and professional in how you handle conversations.
- Youâre Detail-Oriented and Organised: You have a meticulous approach to work, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while prioritising what matters most.
- Youâre a Proactive Problem-Solver: You donât wait to be told what to do. You identify inefficiencies, spot opportunities for improvement, take initiative, and give things a go before seeking help.
- Youâre Ownership-Driven: You take ownership of your work and responsibilities, seeing problems through to completion rather than passing them off. Youâre comfortable with repetitive tasks when needed, but youâre always thinking about how to improve or automate them.

Iâm in my final year doing Economics and I donât know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer â it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donât need a masters. Letâs look at the ones youâd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet â that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This role isnât for you ifâŠ
- You don't want to spend your time chasing payments: Chasing overdue invoices is the biggest part of this role, and it's repetitive by nature. The best person for this job will want to get good at it and then find ways to automate it - if that doesn't appeal, this isn't the right role.
- You need perfect structure: You thrive in a highly structured environment where everything is set up, systems are locked down and there is little room to change how things work.
- Youâre not willing to get hands-on: Youâre not prepared to dive into the nitty gritty details, or youâre above doing repetitive tasks when they need doing.
- You lack attention to detail: You donât spot inconsistencies or problems, and youâre not meticulous about quality and accuracy.
- Youâre not ready for ownership: You want clear instructions and someone else to take responsibility for results. You arenât excited about taking on a real area of responsibility and making it better.
