Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive Finance Assistant to join our Finance Team, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and administrative services across the Trust. This is a 12-month fixed term contract for a secondment cover.

The successful candidate will assist with monthly financial reporting, investigate financial queries, maintain financial records and systems, and provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of finance processes. You will work closely with finance colleagues, budget holders, managers, and external stakeholders while ensuring deadlines are met and information is accurate.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the production of monthly financial reports.
  • Investigate financial queries and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate financial and administrative records.
  • Assist with audits, surveys, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage and prioritize workload to achieve deadlines.
  • Respond professionally to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the continuous improvement of finance processes.

About You

You will have:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A customer-focused approach and commitment to high-quality service.
  • The ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137 per annum, pro rata for part-time)
