Summary
The role is required to support the day-to-day running of the financial activities of the club. This will include requirements of processing transactions for both sales ledger and purchase ledger, cash book entry, and nominal ledger postings. The role provides vital support to the Finance Team with ad hoc duties as requested.
Wage: £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Support of the sales ledger and purchase ledger, including the use of our purchase invoice processing system (SICON)
- Production of sales invoices as required including ensuring accuracy of amounts and allocation
- Ensuring VAT is correctly declared on sales and purchase invoices
- Reconciliation of sales ledger account queries and liaising with customers and suppliers as required
- Ensuring accuracy of new and existing customer and supplier records
- Support bank reconciliations
- Compiling and accurately recording daily banking
- Support the credit control function as required to ensure timely collection of all amounts due
- Maintaining appropriate electronic and paper records including invoices, statements, and remittance advices
- Any other duties reasonably requested by the management of Gloucester Rugby

What you'll learn
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
Training schedule
Working towards apprenticeship standard.
On the job training will be provided by the employer.
Off the job training will be provided by New College Swindon and the employer.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in: Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
