Finance Assistant (Apprentice)

Location: London, W2 (with hybrid working)

About Us

We’re Imperial Health Charity, an organisation that helps our hospitals do more through grants, arts, volunteering and fundraising. We support the five hospitals of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust: Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea, St Mary’s and the Western Eye.

We are now looking for a Finance Assistant to join us on a full-time basis for a 13 month apprenticeship, working 35 hours per week.

The Benefits

  • Starting salary of £26,936, with the potential to progress to £28,301 based on annually reviewed performance

You’ll have the chance to gain valuable experience across a range of financial activities while building your knowledge and confidence in a professional environment and gaining a vital qualification.

Working towards an AAT Diploma in Accounting at Level 2 or Level 3, depending on your existing qualifications and experience, you’ll be undertaking a mixture of practical on-the-job training and practice, alongside classroom training that will equip you with a well-rounded skillset.

The Role

As our Finance Assistant, you will learn everything you need to provide general financial support across our organisation while undertaking your 13 month apprenticeship.

Supporting our day-to-day finance activities, you will learn how to create sales invoices, techniques for chasing overdue debt and how to respond to customer and supplier queries.

You will be taught to review supplier statements to ensure invoices have been entered correctly, identify and correct transaction miscodes within reports, and provide financial and administrative support.

About You

To be considered as our Finance Assistant, you will need:

  • At a minimum, GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or above
  • IT proficiency, including the ability to use spreadsheets
  • A high level of numeracy
  • Good attention to detail
  • The ability to manage deadlines
  • A proactive approach to work
  • A commitment to collaborative and inclusive working, ensuring equality and valuing diversity
  • The ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively, with a willingness to challenge constructively

Any experience of working or volunteering with charities, hospitals, hospices and/or other health-related organisations would be beneficial.
