Summary
The Finance Assistant supports the finance team in day-to-day accounting tasks while studying towards the Level 2 Assistant Accountant qualification with AAT. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic fragrance business environment, helping to build a strong foundation in financial processes, reporting, and business support.
Wage: £20,000 a year

Hours: Monday to Friday, either 9.00am - 5.00pm or 8.00am - 4.00pm. 37 hours 30 minutes a week
Start date: Monday 19 October 2026

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
- Assist with processing invoices, expenses, and accounting transactions
- Support the preparation of financial reports and reconciliations
- Help maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Contribute to month-end and year-end accounting activities
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve queries and ensure smooth financial operations
- Learn and apply accounting principles in line with AAT Level 2 studies
- Communicate with all colleagues and external points of contact face to face, by telephone, or in writing in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Interpret and respond clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner to requests for information from colleagues, managers, directors, and external agencies
- Understand business demands and expectations and deliver against these in line with the company’s high standards
- Communicate within the team, supporting others where necessary
- Contribute to team meetings and events as and when required
- Developing and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Following instructions and asking appropriate questions
- Ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner and people are kept informed of progress

What you'll learn
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

This is a work-based qualification with timetabled classes one day a week
Requirements
Essential qualifications:
- GCSE in: English (grade 4/C or above or equivalent)
- GCSE in: Maths (grade 4/C or above or equivalent)
